In this hands-on class, you will learn the techniques to master colored pencil drawing, focusing on design and composition to make captivating cards that truly stand out. Our experienced instructor, Cathy Raef-Dunnigan will guide you through each step, from initial sketches to the final touches that bring your ideas to life.

You’ll also gain valuable insights into preparing your artwork for printing. We will cover the best practices for digitizing your drawings, ensuring high-quality prints that maintain the integrity of your original pieces. Whether you want to make heartfelt cards for loved ones or sell your creations at local markets, this class provides the skills and knowledge you need to succeed.

Idea: Bring a holiday-themed photo (printed out is preferred, but phones are ok) and recreate it in color pencil to be the cover of your holiday cards this year.

Dates: Saturdays: 10/12, 10/19, & 10/26

Materials:
Bring a photo (printed out is preferred, but phones are ok) and recreate it in color pencil to be the cover of your cards. All other materials and supplies are provided. You will be able to join us in printing your own cards and ordering the quantity you desire in the class. Printing will be an additional fee (approximately starting at $35 - $40 for 25 cards), but it is optional and somewhat customizable. We will go over any additional printing costs before ordering so you can come prepared on the last class session.
Ages:
This class is appropriate for adults and accompanied children 16 and over.
What to bring:
Bring a photo (printed out is preferred, but phones are ok). Feel free to bring a beverage and/or a snack.

Taught by: Cathy Raef-Dunnigan. An award-winning color pencil artist whose work has appeared in Color Pencil Magazine. She has taught beginner and intermediate color pencil classes at the 510 Art Lab. She also has converted her own artwork into notecards so has experience with layout and print production.
