Policies and Rules
______________________________________________
These policies and rules of the 510 Art Lab were adopted at a Board of Directors Meeting on October 14, 2019. They are subject to change. Changes will become effective immediately upon successful vote of adoption by the Board. A version of these rules will be posted at the Lab. Updates and changes to these policies were voted upon at the September 12, 2024 board meeting.
Payments (Classes and Memberships)
______________________________________________
Memberships are pre-paid and not pro-rated. Membership expires from the date of purchase and is non-transferable and non-refundable.
Monthly (not 6-month or yearly) memberships require a debit or credit card on file for auto renewal as well as a $15 refundable keyfob fee. If the keyfob is returned within 24 hours of cancellation or non-payment, the $15 fee will be refunded.
Classes and special event tickets are non-refundable. Some exclusions may apply.
Code of Conduct
______________________________________________
All guests and members must follow the Code of Conduct.
Safety is important. If you are unsure of how to safely do something, don’t do it until you’ve asked for help.
Directors or the President may temporarily expel anyone who violates the Policies and Rules from the premises or online systems. Bans may be reversed upon Board Approval.
Permanent membership revocation for anyone violating any 510 Art Lab policies will come as a board decision. Once a membership is revoked, no refunds of unused fees are available.
Be excellent to each other. We are all here to make and learn. Collaboration and respect are important.
If you break something, please let a board member know. You will not be asked to replace the equipment due to honest mistakes. We just want to know so we can prevent it in the future and make it safe for all.
Always leave the space better than you found it. Clean, maintain and organize the space. This may include taking out trash, sweeping floors, cleaning tables, returning tools and supplies to the proper place, etc.
All tools and resources must stay on the premise so that other members may use them. Removing tools or resources from the space without authorization from a Board Member is theft.
We welcome any questions and ideas and value our members and their suggestions. We look forward to positive working relationships. Don’t be afraid to ask questions; this is your space to use and create.
Everyone on the premises must adhere to the liability instructions and guidelines. This includes members, guests, instructors, volunteers and children. All persons are responsible for their own actions.
Smoking cigarettes, cigars and e-cigarettes is not allowed inside the building or within 15 feet of any entrance.
No pets, except service animals, are allowed in the Lab.
Guests
______________________________________________
Guests cannot inhabit the 510 Art Lab without another member present.
Guest passes are $25 per day and can only be purchased by members. This pass is for the use of the space and tools. Any supplies or kits are purchased separately.
Guests are encouraged to become members.
Unless properly trained or as part of a scheduled class, guests are not allowed to use tools and equipment.
Members are responsible for the guests and their actions.
Minors
______________________________________________
Members may accompany two minor children at the Lab at no extra charge.
Anyone under 18 is not allowed membership but may accompany the adult member.
Parents/Legal Guardians are responsible for their children and their actions.
All minors must have an adult member with them at all times. They are not allowed at the Lab by themselves nor with another adult who is not a member.
Class descriptions will generally suggest age appropriateness.
Non-Discrimination Policy
______________________________________________
The 510 Art Lab does not promote or discriminate against any person, population group, or organization with regard to categories protected by applicable United States law. They include, but are not limited to race, color, religion, sex, gender expression, physical appearance, language, education background, national origin, age, disability and veteran status.
Anti-Harassment Policy
______________________________________________
Harassment is prohibited and will not be tolerated. Any person who feels they have been a victim of harassment should ask the harasser to cease the behavior, if they feel safe doing so. Members or guests asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately or be removed from the premises. If the victim of harassment does not feel safe confronting the harasser, they should immediately contact a Board Member or police officer if necessary.
Harassment includes the following, but not limited to offensive comments related to race, gender, disability, religion, sexual preference or physical appearance; also any unwelcome physical contact, threats or incitement of violence or intimidation by words, gestures, or body language.
Community Storage Areas & Supplies
______________________________________________
All tools and supplies are available for use by all members unless documented or labeled as training required. Training is required for stained glass, glass fusion, and pottery equipment, as well as 3D printers and Cricut machines. Please refer to the specific area rules for more information on training and orientation.
Projects and materials should be stored in the proper areas. All personal items or materials should be labeled as such. Lockers are available to members to secure personal items.
Please respect the personal projects of other members, and be careful to notice if supplies are marked community or personal. Any unmarked supplies and tools are considered community.
Any supplies, tools or equipment donations must be approved by the Board to ensure that unacceptable items are not left behind. For the safety and protection of our members and space, we do accept donations that may contain hazardous material, items that we do not have room or use for, and items like monitors that cannot be placed in the trash collection.
All donations will be given a tax receipt as proof of donation.
If you have a personal tool or supply that you are willing to leave and share with other members, please be sure to mark your name on it so it does not become part of our inventory.
Gallery and Commercial Use
______________________________________________
The 510 Art Lab encourages creativity and collaboration; however, members reserve the rights to all of their creations.
A gallery area for members to sell their art is also available. The artist will decide the value of their art and price accordingly. A 15% donation to the 510 Art Lab is suggested for use of this benefit. Displays are subject to Board approval.
Specific rules and policies of the gallery can be found in an attached document.
Membership is designed for hobbyists and small creative businesses, not as a full-time personal art studio. The 510 Art Lab may invoice members for incurring costs to the Lab significantly in excess of their monthly dues. Determination of excess to be submitted and billed by Board approval.
Personal Property
________________________________________________________
Everyone who enters the 510 Art Lab is responsible for their own personal property. Items left here are not the responsibility of the 510 Art Lab. Entering the building as a member or non-member means your belongings and your guest’s belongings are your own responsibility.
Lockers are available to store your supplies. No guns, weapons or illegal contraband can be stored or brought onto the premises.
